Robin Wood

Outside the work of Victoria College, Robin Wood is an active politician. He was first elected as a Councillor on Derby City Council in 1979 and has never lost a vote for his re-election since.

He is the only member of that body to have been a Councillor in five different decades.

He became Mayor of the City of Derby in 1993 when he met HM The Queen; HRH The Duke of Edinburgh; HRH The Prince of Wales; and The Late Diana, Princess of Wales.

He currently chairs his Local Planning Authority, a post he first held in 1988.

He has been Parliamentary Agent at two General Elections and has for many years been unopposed as President of the Conservative Association for three Parliamentary Constituencies.

In addition, he serves as an active non-executive director on a number of charitable companies.

In 2006 he formed a legal Civil Partnership with Jeffery Tillett, (1927-2008) Director of Examinations, Victoria College.
